I currently work as an Adjunct at two NYC universities, where I teach introductory writing courses to undergraduates. I have also taught creative writing for the past five years to both high schoolers and undergraduates. This has included poetry workshops, cross-genre workshops, seminars on poetry, prose, playwriting, nonfiction, and more.

At Fordham I have taught four section of Composition II, a 100-level writing-centered English course that focuses on learning and practicing how to communicate clearly and effectively in a variety of written formats. This work involved developing a pedagogically appropriate syllabus from the ground-up, emphasizing personal, academic, multimodal, and scholarly writing and managing class sizes of 16 students.

At City Tech I have taught Composition I and II, both 100-level English courses. The courses are geared largely towards developing the student’s academic skillsets, focused on writing but also on study strategies, critical thinking skills, digital literacy, and rhetorical modes that will benefit them in broad range of professional environments. Classes range from 20-23 students, and are built to accommodate students working full-time as they are managing their course load.

Over the past three years I’ve taught eight advanced and introductory creative writing classes to classrooms of 10-15 high school students. These classes emphasize exploration of prose, poetry, and drama equally, and students complete assignments and workshops in each category. For these classes, I design and implement the course syllabus, construct daily lesson plans, and provide on-on-one and group feedback to students.

I taught an undergraduate beginning poetry workshop to 16 student with diverse academic backgrounds. In the role I constructed and delivered foundational craft lessons, led workshops, accommodated students with differing levels of writing experience, provided individualized guidance during office hours, and managed online-only engagement.

Co-taught a year-long, online creative writing class to 12 Armenian students on a weekly basis through the Yerevan-based organization, TUMO. My co-teacher and I developed collaborative weekly lesson plans on a variety of subjects within creative writing and literature, bridging the gap between varying levels of English-language proficiency.
During the summer of 2019 I was invited to travel to Yerevan, Armenia to teach a two-week intensive creative writing workshop titled: “Making It Up: Myth, Fairytale, and Folklore” to a classroom of 18 Armenian students students ages 12-18.
